The Suffolk coastline is somewhere you escape to for peace and quiet as it encourages the feeling of kicking back and relaxing. So, forget your alarm clock but do make sure you get up at dawn at least once because Suffolk's easterly location means that the sunrise there is more beautiful than anywhere else in the country.
In Lowestoft, you should also try exploring the narrow roads called 'scores'.
Southwold is the jewel in the coastline's crown thanks to its golden, sandy beach and huge
pier (be sure to pay
a visit to the collection of vintage amusement machines there). Eat lunch in the town at
the Sole Bay Inn, East Green, in the shadow
of the lighthouse and with the aroma of Adnams brewery. See Aldeburgh's splendid Moot Hall, perfect for
a spot of shopping, and Snape Maltings concert hall (among the best in the country). Throw in the many RSPB reserves along the coastline and what you've got is a Mecca for leisurely pursuits.
