Days out in the Scottish Borders area
We go just north of the border, to a fascinating part of Scotland just waiting to be explored
The Scottish Borders is one of the most colourful areas of the British Isles, with an amazing array of colours in its natural habitats: from the bright yellow of the gorse in May, to the wide range of reds and yellows in autumn. Our tour itineraries will lead you through some of the area’s most impressive landscapes and riverbanks, by car and on foot. You’ll experience the great diversity of the area and its stunning scenery. And with luck, you’ll see otters, kingfishers, herons and other wildlife. It will also help you to gain an appreciation of the important influence the countryside has had on Scotland’s literary figures such as James Hogg, and Sir Walter Scott (the latter being one of Scotland’s greatest writers and poets). We begin (Day 1) with a tour around the Borders and the landmarks of Scott’s life.
