Wouldn't it be great to have easy access to
a wide network of friendly pubs, sports grounds and the like, where motorcaravanners can safely and legally stop overnight? These would offer a quick, easy place to stay for one night – and, best of all, you wouldn't need to be a member of a
club to use them. We have teamed up with the Motor Caravanners' Club to create a series of places where you can do just that. We're beginning with pubs; we're currently recruiting a large number who will let our readers stop overnight on their premises, either for free, or for a small charge. Each month we'll print a list of our current Nightstop locations, as well as feature one great nightstop that we think you really must visit.
Our Frequently Asked Questions explain how our scheme works. So, look out for our sign when you're away on tour!
Q How does it work?
We're issuing suitable Nightstop
locations with a five-'van, CL licence, granted by the Motor Caravanners' Club. This allows participating pubs to legally allow motorcaravanners to stay overnight on their premises.
Each month we'll print a list
of participating locations in Practical Motorhome, along with their contact details. If you're in the area, and want to stay overnight, simply contact the location to see if there's a space available. Or you can just turn up on the off-chance; but be aware that the locations are only allowed to accommodate five motorhomes at any one time. You might also want to eat and drink in the pub, but there is no obligation for you to do so.
Q Will I have to pay to stay at a nightstop?
It depends – the landlord or sportsground owner is free to charge as he or she sees fit; whether to charge, and how
much, becomes the landowner's responsibility. We have, however, made all participating landowners aware that any charge should not be set too high.
Q What about facilities?
In order to comply with basic regulations, participating locations must offer a fresh water supply and a chemical-disposal point. Motorcaravanners using
the Nightstop sites should be aware that no other facilities are expected to be provided: you should therefore ensure that you have all other facilities that you require onboard your motorhome.
Q I'm a landlord/sportsground owner
and I'd like to take part. What do I need to do?
Simply contact us via the Practical Motorhome email address at nightstop@practicalmotorhome.com, or telephone us on 020 8267 5629 for more information on how to join our Nightstop scheme. Please note that the scheme is currently limited to privately owned (freehold) properties
or grounds. |
