THE TRAVEL GUIDE
The Short-Break Travel Guide - NORFOLKBACK

Short-Break Travel Guide There are few better touring destinations to start your new season's touring in earnest than the picturesque county of Norfolk with its numerous bustling, traditional market towns.
The town of Thetford (a name dear to our hearts!) is a great place to start your tour. Its chief attraction is the 'motte and bailey' earthworks of the long-gone castle that once presided over the town at Castle Hill. North of here is the ancient market town of Downham Market, otherwise known as 'the gateway to the fens'.
King's Lynn is another interesting town to visit. It has some lovely architecture and the Saturday and Tuesday markets are crammed full of fine, local produce. Towards the coast, Hunstanton ('sunny Hunny') is striking, with its stripey sandstone cliffs, and nearby Titchwell Marsh is the RSPB's most visited reserve. Further along the coast is the Edwardian seaside town of Cromer. Stroll along the pier and sample locally-caught crab.
Norfolk's flat landscape makes it an ideal area to tour in a motorhome and, with its huge selection of market towns, the stunning Broads and mile upon mile of sandy coastline, you'll be spoiled for things to see and do.

48 Hour Essentials

The Copper Kettle Tea Rooms
This café, on the High Street in Hunstanton, has a real feeling of 'English seaside' to it. This establishment will keep you fuelled with tea and cake at very reasonable prices. Tel 01485 534663

Fresh Fish
There are plenty of cafés and restaurants in Cromer but the most celebrated food store is JWH Jonas, in Chapel Street. It stocks a fine range of crab products and often has queues outside.
